I've tried the nylon stockings.... didn't work for us. No matter how small of a slit I make for his nails to slip through the nylon, it just keeps getting bigger and bigger allowing hair to eventually poke through. I had to make one slit for each nail.
What is working for us is using Vetrap flex bandage, the ones that comes in a variety of colors. When I stretch the bandage to slip his nails through the slit, it flexes back snuggly around the nail. The bonus is the light stickiness... great for holding back hair even if the slit gets bigger. I also like the texture of the bandage, much easier to work with compare to slippery nylon.
