Make sure it's a comfortable collar and not one that's way to thick. The little pals collars are great. I only buy ones that are 3/8" anything else is to thick for my girl. It can take a long time for them to get used to it. When your around I would put it on and then try distracting him by playing and you can even use some treats to keep him interested. Remember never to hook the leash to the collar the collar should only be used for id tags. Use a harness for anytime he is going to be on the leash.
