What do you mean 'cleaning them'? Dogs don't normally make a point of cleaning their paws like, say, cats do. Most paw licking and/or paw chewing is dogs is the cardinal sign of allergies. Humans cough/sneeze w/ allergies - dogs' symptoms are that they lick/chew their paws.
