Here are 2 different references for Lyme Disease. It looks like you are in Maine which is a high risk area.

The tick needs to be immediately removed in case it's a disease carrying tick. I believe the Angel article says that if you catch the tick within 48 hours you are safe so it's best to learn how to remove them if one is ever found. Good luck and I hope the 2 links are helpful. Ticks are gross little creatures.
