Our Bella was operated on at one year of age, about a month after she started experiencing severe symptoms, and she did great! However, I would consult with a vet about the best age for surgery. The articles that I have read indicate that irreversible changes leading to arthritis and bone damage can occur if severe luxating patella goes untreated for 1 or 2 years.
