You all could be right! I'd assumed anyone would know the difference between a mole and an engorged tick attached to their dog's skin but maybe not! She didn't describe the reddish ring around the base where it's attached but as this apparently appeared suddenly, it probably is a tick that needs removing the right way to prevent the head from remaining embedded skin.
