If you are opting not to spay at this point, please remember that these panties or diapers are NOT for preventing breeding. A determined male would have no problem getting through them.
Prevention of pyometra is not the only reason to spay, but it's a darn good one. If you've ever seen a dog die from this (and it can occur with the first heat cycle) you would know that it is an ugly, painful way to die.
