You can ask your vet to prescribe fluconazole (Diflucan) instead of ketoconazole. It is more expensive than ketoconazole and may have to be compounded for a yorkie but has less side effects. It may still affect the appetite though. Ketaconazole is about the oldest antifungal out there, and the cheapest, but does have a lot of nasty side effects. My yorkie took fluconazole for two years for a fungal infection called Valley Fever. The side effect of loss of appetite went away after a short time. I would advise you to give a liver protectant like denamarin any time you are treating your dog with an antifungal. They are all tough on the liver.
