Good breeding dogs are in the show ring environment till 2 years of age, earning their titles, then retired from showing and go on to breeding. So for those 2 years, their temperaments are constantly being evaluated, no one wants to pass on nastiness genes. Plus they're out and about with other dogs, strange people, crowds, etc.

Any breeders that do not actively show their dogs, I guess there's really no guarantee there. In breeding situations, I've heard of dogs really getting out of control and doing harm to their own and others puppies... I think that may be more environmental stress, the moms not having appropriate privacy and such. I also think many people tend to not stop bad behavior when it is first seen, just hoping that it won't happen again kind of thing.

I don't breed, but whenever mine fight, I am on them like white on rice, and would do the same if I was breeding them. If I couldn't break the habit, they would have separate rooms.
