Sadly, the majority of the breeders of Yorkies out there are not reputable. Almost any online search you do for Yorkie puppies will turn up lovely websites full of beautiful pictures and scores of promises but they are only puppy mills disguised. It is a horrible cut throat business. For the past several years small dogs have been very popular and purebred dogs of many kinds are being bred by people who care nothing about the dog or the new owners. They are expert liars and have their stories down pat.

My advice would be go to your closest local AKC sanctioned dog conformation or Yorkshire Terrier Club. Here is a link that will help you to find those in your state or a near by state.
American Kennel Club - Club Search and Directory
Do a conformation club search first and then a specialty (Yorkshire Terrier)
You will find that the clubs have breeder referral people whose job it is to refer you to breeders they consider to be reputable. Most of these clubs take great pains to give out only names of those they know to be breeding for the betterment of the breed. I know you only want a lovable pet but these breeders often have pet puppies that they will sell for a reasonable price. They should have already been tested for and be guaranteed against harmful genetic defects now being found in Yorkies.

Read as much as you can about what a true reputable breeder would be like. You need to know how to ask the right questions and be familiar with the qualities of a reputable breeder. There are so many rip off artists out there that you need to know how to avoid these smooth operators.

You are looking for a little family member that will spend many good, happy, healthy years with you. Take your time and don't support people who exploit dogs for their own selfish reasons.

You can find some "sticky" information threads here on YT that will give you some tips on looking for a reputable breeder. Take your time. I know you miss the one you lost but finding just there right new pup will save you from the heartache that lurks out there. Pet stores stock puppy mill puppies. Please don't support those who abuse animals. No matter how adorable the puppies may be their parents are still locked in filthy little cages turning out puppies for these despicable people.
