Ah, yes, some critter or sound or scent in the area is likely making him anxious or unsure. Hopefully, whatever has him rattled will smooth out in time and he'll return to enjoying his walk in your neighborhood again. If not, you can probably help him desensitize to the troublesome situation over time.
