Great advice!! My first yorkie was given to me, but he has been anything but free!! He's got gastrointestinal issues, a slight heart murmur, bad teeth and as he gets further into his senior years, the list will keep growing.. If you are going to buy a dog, invest in a good, healthy dog from a good breeder. Chances are, the dog you are getting won't be show quality anyways, even if it cost $1500-$2000...even if it's from a show breeder. Most show breeders keep their pups that they think are show quality and they sell the rest. You buy from the responsible show breeders because they are trying to breed the best of the best, therefore your puppy will have been bred with that intention in mind and most likely it will have better genetics than your avg BYB pup. If you buy from a good breeder, you will also have someone there to support you and answer questions about your pup...and you'll have someone with knowledge of your dogs genetics and health background. Finding a good breeder is the key to finding a good pup.
