Thanks everyone for your replies! They were most helpful and I so appreciate your honesty in giving your opinions. Teddy is the most sociable creature so much so that he forgets his manners which we will soon be getting him re-trained at a local obedience class. If I am walking him and he sees or hears another person or dog he immediately trys to run that direction to say hi. Needless to say we are not allowing him to do that. Some people and dogs actually hate dogs and want no part of them which is certainly an okay thing with us and we respect their feelings. At this point we probably will not get another dog just yet since I think I was falling into that "friend for my dog to entertain him" mode. When I come home from work...some days at my age of 65 I am mentally burnt out and the last thing I want to do is play......but dear Teddy immediately brings whatever toy is closest to play. He is not alone during the day ....my husband is home full time with him and they play alot and take walks when the weather allows. When I come thru the door however I am a new person to play with. Again thanks to all of you for your words of wisdom!
