Many breeders will not sell their pups to families with children. Most Yorkies are fragile, although some are larger and sturdier. My Yorkies are larger, 9 pounds, but they have a fragile build.
Disposition is another consideration. Many Yorkies tend to be high energy, and need a lot of attention and care.
There are many people here with young children and Yorkies, but it is not the breed I would recommend for most young families. When my brothers and I were young, I know a Yorkie would not have been appropriate for us. |
I agree. In most cases, I'd not recommend yorkies to families with small children.
