We will be picking up our new yorkie puppy in the next few weeks from a friend out of state. I am gathering all the "normal" puppy supplies but curious how you would handle bringing a new puppy home over a 9 hr drive. I know this isn't ideal, but I also know that puppies are shipped all the time too....which doesn't seem ideal either.
Obviously, I will have food, snacks, etc on hand and will stop for lots of water and potty breaks. But is he going to be safe to potty in such public areas when he hasn't been fully vaccinated yet? Am I overthinking this too much? I don't really want to use pee pads when we are home, but have wondered if it would be best for his health and safety to place him on one when we are traveling?
I know he isn't a china doll, but being a small baby, I understand he will be more susceptible to germs and infections until he is fully vaccinated.
I am a RN, so I am probably overthinking this a bit too....but better to always be prepared beforehand.
Thanks for suggestions on how to get baby Pluto home happy and healthy!
