God I love avocado. If I was a millionaire I'd eat nothing but raw oysters, broiled scallops, pistachios, and avocados haha. But they gotta be either Californian or Mexican avocados. I HATE the Chilean ones that have this disgusting twinge of sweetness that ruins them. Next year is going to suck with the historic drought killing off all the Califonia avocado trees.
I love eating avocado with just a little salt or on top of a burger. And guacamole with onions, a little serrano, lime juice, cilantro, salt, and a very little bit of tomato is absolutely spectacular when you dice everything so finely that you can't even see the chunks anymore. The only thing I never get is people who put avocado in omelettes. The flavor of avocado is way too delicate to really shine through then, so all you have really done is doubled the price of your omelette, and it still tastes the same.
On thing I never understood: where does the name avocado come from? It sounds Spanish, but in spanish the word for it is aguacate.
