I've decided NOT to get Mitzi spayed. My reasons are as follows:
1: There is NO over population problem here in Tunisia.
2: There is ZERO chance of her getting pregnant by accident, as there are No dogs walking around witthout owners, and Mitzi NEVER goes out without me (In fact she hates OUT! LOL!)
3: The vets here don't specialise in small dogs of any kind.
4: There is hardly any real animal medicine available, unless it's for farm animals. They tend to give human meds if they dont have anything animal like.
5: I'm not sure that Mitzi would be free from infections post-op due to the lack of real animal meds.
6: They have no laser surgery here, so it's the full chop'em up surgery.
7: As there is so much conflicting medical information for both arguments, I find that the odds of Mitzi getting sick are equal both ways.
Those are my reasons. I hope no-one thinks badly of me for my choice, but I am doing what I think is the best thing for Mitzi, considering our circumstances. I thank those who sent me all the excellent information, and gave me their honest opinions on this matter. It helped me make a VERY difficult decision.
