Oils don't normally cause constipation; if anything, they cause diarrhea. Perhaps your kiddo ate something else they shouldn't have, maybe? I hope he is feeling better. Canned pumpkin can help, next time. Also, extra hydration (try sweetening the water, or give some low-salt broth).
When/if it gets truly impacted, you really do want to go to the vet bc of the dangers a true impaction can cause.
