I have a pup on Temeril P and he has been on it for many years (at least 6 years). The allergy injections did not work for him.

My vet prefers it be given every other day so I do that except when he has more issues and then I give it daily. He has never had issues taking it. It really is not that much prednisone and while I agree that it is not the best choice all of the time, for some it is.

I recently tried to taper him off and he had issues with his collapsed trachea so he is back on it daily. He is a senior pup and all of his lab values are good.

I was going to try the Apoquel but I am not certain on that . My vet said I could do both, the Temeril P and the Apoquel. Just don't know how I feel about that. I wanted to use it instead of the Temeril P but clearly that will not work because of the CT. Maybe best to leave as is...and treat him with injections a couple of times a year when he gets a bit more itchy.

Hope this helps you regarding the use of Temeril P.
