LOL He's done it since he was a baby and doesn't chew it. It's like a little chore for him, he gets you the remote or phone or whatever you need so that's why I give him treats
And yes sometimes he brings it without you asking. I think it's an important thing too if there's an emergency. All you have to say is "where's the phone?" And he hops on the couch then the desk and gets the phone off the charger by himself
