I hadn't heard that theory, some people think it's a potassium deficiency, while others think it may have something to do with the protein in the food being too hard for the pup to digest. I believe that theory is correct on many dogs, because things that you add to the food such as meat tenderizers or pineapple which contains bromelain, a meat tenderizer, works for many dogs. If the poop has undigested protein in it, it smells appetizing to the dog. Dogs can smell individual ingredients in their poop, not the blend we smell. Adding a little pineapple to the food has helped many people here. If you dog is under one, he'll probably outgrow it, but you can try adding pineapple to see if it helps.
