Question Is Gizmo Too Attached To ME?

My son’s friend said I have an unhealthy relationship with Gizmo because he is so attached to me. When anyone is holding him and I look like I’m going to walk away he starts whining, wiggling so much they have to really hold him and sometimes barks. It’s not a mean bark just like “Hey, don’t leave me”. When they put him down or I take him from their arms he is so excited as if he hasn't seen me in forever. When I leave and he stays with my boyfriend, he will whine for about 10 minutes while running around looking for me before he will start playing and being his normal self. I have left him with my friend for a couple of hours and he still whines and looks for me but then he’s fine. The other day we went out to lunch and Gizmo was on his leash and I walked in to see what I wanted while he waited outside with my boyfriend. He barked so loud as I walked into the restaurant that it shocked me. Before when I would get home, he would be so excited, jumping and whining. I started ignoring him and not making a big deal about being home so now he runs around me, whines very little then sits by my feet and waits patiently for me to pick him up. I have had Gizmo since he was 8 weeks old and stayed home with him the first two weeks, pretty much 24/7. I might have left once or twice to go to the store, but that’s it. My boyfriend doesn't live with me so it’s just me and my baby.
Is this normal for Yorkies to be so attached to their owners?
