my past 3 yorkies had no hair in ears, my poodle did, always was plucking fur out, poodles have floppy ears holds moisture and cause's ear infections. Yorkies with stand up ears usually do not have a lot of fur in their ears, so it depends on your dog, if you see excessive fur with-in the ear pluck it out, better to be safe then sorry.
