When we spoke, I didn't tell you that Max, my first Yorkie, has an "only child" personality. However, we ran into a couple of loose Yorkies on our walk one day. Seeing Max interact with them convinced me he would enjoy a friend (we returned the loose Yorkies safely to their home).
I think that is a big consideration -- does Zoey enjoy being around other dogs?
It is a little daunting thinking about whether or not the two will get along. My boys liked each other instantly, but Max was bossy and we had jealousy issues. Everything had to be on Max's terms. It is best to stand back and let the dogs work it out, unless one of them is doing something dangerous.
Other considerations: If you like to take Zoey with you to a lot of places, having 2 is a little more work. Grooming 2 is more work.
Everything is doubled -- including the love and pleasure.
For all of the examples of 2 fighting, there are many more examples of multiples who love snuggling with each other and playing together.
