Many dogs can walk and run for long distances - some people even bike with them. We used to take our Wylie running and he just loved it! It was so much fun. As long as she does okay at 4 miles, I wouldn't worry too much. Just be sure her knees are in good shape...ie, no luxating patella as is common in yorkies.
