Yes, I have heard of vets doing this. I guess they are trying to cover the cost of employees and their time; but I also would not care for it and I do think that $11 is costly. Taylor, I think you should simply ask why they are doing it. If my vet started charging a fee like that I would definitely question it!
You might look into getting meds elsewhere. You need to price check them each time but that is just a couple of phone calls to pharmacies. Of course with regular meds, you can already just call pharmacies for prices and compare. I would let the vet know that you will be doing that and will ask for a prescription if you need it. You are not being a b**** .. you are a consumer and have a right to know what you are paying for!
