I talked with my vet and he said that it could be a sign of mental retardation. My daughter has only had her for a few days and is in LOVE with her. She(my daughter) did say that Riley sat back and didn't play like the other pups but she seems to be smart.

Has anyone heard of this? Any information that anyone has would be greatly appreciated. My daughter has NO intention of trading her in for another puppy. She made her choice with Riley and will keep her no matter what. My daughter's heart is aching as mine is for her.
First I'm sorry about your daughter's lab puppy.
If she's intends on taking on a special needs baby, then research is what is needed.
Just as long as she considers the puppy's quality of life.
Bugaboo would have been normally Put to sleep. But he had a strong will to live. But I always kept inconsideration his quality of life.
Her devotion to this puppy is wonderful and I commend her for that!
Please tell her we wish her and the puppy all the luck.
