He could be teething right now, and that can irritate the entire GI tract (just like in human babies, how they get diaper rash when teething). You could put some diaper cream or hydrocortisone cream on his bum to help w/ any invisible irritation that's occurring...as long as he can't reach his bum to lick it all off (if he can reach it, just make sure you rub it ALL in very good so that the substance isn't lickable in any real volume).
Like others have mentioned, it could also be worms. Your vet would be able to give you the deworming stuff.
