Default Licking/chewing paws

My Molly had been licking and chewing on her paws. I had her to the vet and they suggested I change her food. It was time to switch her to an adult brand anyway so I did just that and switched brands in the process. She seemed to be doing very well. I slipped up and gave her something that was corn based and that night she was back to chewing and licking. After a couple days she stopped so that makes me think that there is a corn allergy for sure. A couple of weeks has passed and two nights ago she started again. She is due for a trip to the groomer this week. Could this possibly just be that her nails are too long? I don't trim them myself because I am horrified at the thought of cutting them to short. So needless to say they only get done every 4-6 weeks. They really look too long to me so I'm hoping this could be some of the problem. Any thoughts?
