first off if you use anything on that area you should use a cone on the dog's head because more than likely the dog will lick it off. I guess a onsie could work as well

Lola had a very bad problem when she was about 6 months old and would scream in terror when she had to go which was often because she had gotten so raw down there. My friend had just had surgery herself down there and she gave me a tube of Calmoseptine ointment which I believe she got at the drug store, it worked in just one application. This is a human medicine so I am not sure if a vet would recommend it, but it was like a miracle. But once again I really think it is important to make sure you prevent the dog from licking or ingesting any type of ointment you use.
