You would be surprised how versatile the pups are. I worried about this as well. My pups did great and so did the rest of the family. We had a few bumps and hiccups but we managed.

After my surgery, when I could lift, my dogs became my weights.... Lol. I would pick up my 5 lb girl with both hands 3 times and as I lifted, give her a kiss. Then later the 3 lb boy 5 times, with a kiss each time. I did this with all 3 dogs throughout the day, gradually increasing how many times I lifted. It passed the time, I spent time with them and it kept us all occupied.
