Matese~I'm sorry your baby is sick. I know it is very stressful. I have lost a few of my furkids over the years too, some much too young. That is what prompted me to learn how to use more natural ways to feed and heal them. Vets, just like human Drs have almost NO training in nutrition. They only treat the symptoms of diseases and don't even believe that diseases can be cured with proper nutrition. I have learned otherwise over the last few years, much to the benefit of my babies and my pocketbook! I'd rather spend money on keeping them healthy than on vet bills and medications which are all toxic to them. Are you giving your little furby a probiotic because some meds cause diarrhea too.
Whenever my dogs have diarrhea I give them cooked pumpkin or sweet potato/yam. lt stops it fast. White potatoes and carrots aren't really good for most dogs. Something else you could try is making a infusion with dried marshmallow root as it is mucilaginous and very soothing to the gut lining. You should be able to find it at a health/natural food store. Put 1 Tbsp dried root to a cup of room temp water in a glass jar and let it sit on the counter for at least 4 hrs. Then offer it to your dog or mix with a bit of broth for flavor. Peppermint, ginger and tumeric are also anti-inflamatory and can be mixed into the food. |
