Just to add, I adopted a 2 y/o male 3 months ago, got him from my vet, he was a surrender, I have always had female yorkies, my last one, the last year before I had to put her down she peed all over the house, carpets in every room, although I cannot smell it (shampooed every time she peed, and after having to put her down had rug cleaning company shampoo all carpets) any dog coming into my house can and will pick up dog pee smell, for this reason, I was NOT going to get another dog, and having to put down 4 yorkies in my life time has become toooo over whelming for me, the pain in my heart is to great. I told my vet about my last dog peeing issue, she told me some dogs that smell dog pee will pee in house, some will not, based on that I went to see this dog that she was begging me to "just come see him, something about him reminds me of your little girl" I saw him and he came home with me. He has NEVER peed in the house, but had poop issues, EVERYYYYY morning I woke up to poop in one area, He would pee & poo every time I took him out. I would take him out just before I went to bed, he would do his business, yet poo in the middle of the night, and he knew he did wrong lol, his beautiful BIG stand up ears would be squashed against his head when I would get up in the morning, so I knew what he had done lol (poor lil baby) sooooo, I purchased wee wee pads and put one in the area where he was pooping in, so he picked a diff. spot, I put a wee wee pad in that area also, so he found another place, I put a wee wee pad there also, so now I have 3 wee wee pads in 3 diff. areas lol, well ya know what, it took 2 months for him to see I was going to win, not him, now he poops outside, no more pooping in the house. It takes time, even with his poop issue I NEVER thought of bringing him back to my vet, I ADORE this lil guy. YOU WILL WIN, trust me on this. I know who owned this dog, spoke to them, so that is a plus for me. I am trying to bring out, it will take time, if you LOVE the dog take the time, it will happen.
