I would look into treating him with Simplicef (cefpodoxime proxetil) for 30 days -- that's the gold standard treatment for pyoderma (bacterial infection/staph intermedius).

As far as longer term and the shots...it depends...do you expect this to be chronic? In other words, has it been going on for a long time? If so, do you think it's allergy related?

If allergy related, then you'd want to consider Atopica or Apoquel, antihistamines, Temaril-P, steroids, or allergy testing and desensitization shots.

What is Be Soothed?

No idea if primrose would help. You do want to be giving a good fish oil though.
