My entire house is carpeted med high, not low pile (except bathrooms & kitchen) none of my dogs ever got nails or the dew claw caught, as another poster wrote just caught on crochet or knitted throw blankets. Sometimes if the groomer didn't file nails after clipping them, their nails would snag on the carpeting. Hope this helps you out.
