No, Lime (per se) is not going to kill your animal, but...
it can be irritating if left on their feet, or get into their mouths/eyes.

You might just temporarily fence off the/an area and treat it, then move over where do their business. Good for you in keeping them rinsed, that's probably the only real thing you can do to help.
