Default Dewclaws and carpet

Right now at MILs house we have mostly tile and wood floors. Only carpet is rugs and in MILs room is very low pile carpet. In our soon to be moved in house we will have 80% carpet. Not super high pile but the regular pile carpet you see in homes. Toto has dew claws and a pinky claws that are set back up and high (deformity from birth). Just wondering if I need to worry about his dew claws getting stuck in carpet. Do I need to keep play nearby on top of a short pile rug?
