For me it isn't so much Boarded vs. non Boarded (although always choose Boarded when in doubt because so many general vets get in over their heads with these surgeries). Non-Boarded surgeons have accomplished amazing things, but you just have to be very careful. If this one teaches at UI CVM I'm fairly certain they are a good choice. |
They were certain about the luxating patella--the kneecap movement was readily apparent and quite severe. They asked me if I wanted to feel it for myself, and I about passed out. The vet who did the examination will not do the surgery--the surgery will be performed by the owner of the clinic. I have faith in the surgeon's ability--he is quite well-known locally. I will call tomorrow and ask about the possibility of CCL, and the need for x-rays (which would also require sedation).
