One thing that has worked for me is a spray that smells like pee they sell it at pet smart, Walmart ext and you spray it on the pad where you want him to go and he will start marking there. As to the stove and old spot you need to buy a spray to clean up the pee smell because if he smells the old place like pee he will continue to go there. Although it might be in the hardwood and that might be hard to clean up. I hope this works good luck!
