well i live in michigan too and my dogs go outside to the bathroom and they are both small dogs.
they dont actually get cold they do what they have to do and then we come back inside.
and there previous owners took them outside to the bathroom to they lived in michigan to.
they also go to the door when they have to go to bathroom.
