Sadly, that is what happens all too often. Again, I have to say that I wish all people who don't use preventatives or encourage others not to would listen to what happens to pups who are not protected. I really, really do not think they realize how serious this is.
They say they don't want to poison their pups...yet they don't stop to think about the poison that will be needed to get rid of the heartworms if they get them. Of course there are those who think they can cure heartworms other ways (not true) and, in the end, the pups suffer. It is a huge problem...I see it all of the time and not just in Texas.
