I kept Zowie and her pups in my room in the back corner. She loved people to see her pups right from the start. I tried to keep the commotion down. She would smile real big and jump up and down. I had everyone pet her first.
I do think I started with family (quietly, one at a time.) I wouldn't let the kids hold the pups until at least they open their eyes. Then make sure they are sitting on the floor with a soft rug in case they were to drop the pup. More important as the pups get more wiggly, teach the children to sit on the floor to hold them (if you let them). Even grown ups will drop the pups. They can easily be killed from a fall. |
