I think the method of using two bands works really well. You place one band lower on forward and place the bow on that section, next gather more hair behind the bow and add another band around it all, including the bow. With this you never have the bow turning or sliding and your pup can't get it off. Here's detailed instructions with pictures. The Diva-Dog Bowtique
