At that age of course you want them to be pigs so as not deal with hypoglycemia and all, and I was wondering what the heck. I had my suspicions, so when I bought another bag from Petsmart and compared the smells, it was obvious the amazon bag had lost a lot and I threw it out.
Oh, that's disappointing isn't it? We use to keep our cat food in a big Tupperware container, they were huge cats and really went through the food, but as the food dwindled, there was as much as four inches of air over the food in the container and this really made the food go stale. They wanted no part of the "old" food. I've since learned my lesson and only keep a weeks worth of food in a small container and the rest in the bag.
