I think the slippery surface makes them even more nervous. I guess it's like us walking on ice. There are bunch of good products for shampoo/conditioner/spritz. Personally, I like GloCoat. I like the scent and the silky feeling. There's also many members that like ESPREE? You can purchase that from one of the YT member's site, toplinepet. (mimimomo, I think? Please correct me if I'm wrong.)
Zoey won't take any treats or anything else during her bath either. Once I'm done with her, she lets out her fury on our couch and pillows. LOL
