My boys don't go to the groomer. I do it myself. Ricky absolutely has to have a bath on a weekly basis and I'd like to do it more because he looks like a hot mess after 3 days. I don't do much grooming on him other than brushing. I occasionally trim his ears and his feet, which he hates...and I'll do a sanitary trim...but his hair is slow growing so it's only needed every couple of months.

Prince can go two weeks if he has to. I usually trim him up once a month because his hair grows fast...but if I see something that needs to be done after his bath, I just do it.

My mom keeps her boys naked and they go to the groomers once a month to get their shave and bath and then she bathes them once in between. I just bought her a set of clippers for her birthday so she can do touch ups herself.

I am SOOO glad that I have the ability to groom my boys myself. Prince's last owner was a groomer so his last owner groomed herself as well. As scared as he is of being at the vets, I can't imagine he'd be any better with a stranger trying to groom him...and Ricky...he doesn't like his feet fussed with. I usually do his front feet one day and his back the next as he doesn't have much patience with it.

I did take Ricky into the groomers one time to get his toe nails trimmed and will never do it again. He now goes to the vet to have it done. The groomer we went to was in a hurry and really man handled Ricky. I was so afraid he was going to hurt Ricky's little legs as he has really LONG fine boned legs and he was fighting the groomer really bad. I offered to help hold Ricky and he said I wasn't allowed to help him by holding my dog, which pissed me off more. So...no more groomers for us!!
