If you can't find a small dog or Yorkie rescue to help you then keeping the price high is a good idea. Please make sure he is neutered before you sell him. There are a lot of people out there wanting to make some money breeding dogs. It is very difficult to keep a breeding male from marking inside the house so many times they end up being kenneled for most of their lives.
Puppy mills are always looking for cheap purebreds to use for breeding as well. I hate to also mention that people who are into dog fighting also are in the market for small to medium dogs and cats to help "train" their dogs to kill.
Be careful. You can go on the petfinder website and do a search for a Yorkie rescue or a small dog rescue in your state. Not a shelter, a rescue. A good rescue will go through a lot of trouble interviewing people before they decide which one gets the dog. They even go to the home to do an on site visit. (something you might consider doing for your little guy) They don't just hand them out like a shelter would.
I hope something will change so you don't have to get rid of the little fella but if not then best wishes on finding a great home. |
