How common are they? Is there a statisics that maybe 3 out of 5 yorkies commonly get this or that problem? I know of the 5 most common yorkie problems, i just dont want to loose my yorkie a few months or a year down the road. I am very loving and will take great care,..but i can't affford alot of surgeries if they risks are too common even with TLC. Can anyone help?
The most common issue is hypoglycemia in young puppies, but if you're very watchful and know how to treat it as soon as symptoms appear, you'll get through that stage quickly. The other genetic and health disorders are less common, affecting perhaps only a few percent of Yorkies. After you get your Yorkie, be sure to take it in for a vet check-up ASAP. Most reputable breeders will have a health guarantee allowing you to return the dog if a problem is found within a certain length of time.

If a problem develops later, there are many experienced people on Yorkietalk who have gone through the same thing with their dog and can help you with excellent advice. Good luck!
