Not all humans go through egg retrieval to carry their own and not all women who do IVF plan to carry their own.

Eggs are in the body in both humans and dogs, but they are not mature. Hormones tell them to mature therefore you can not harvest mature eggs without the proper hormones in place.

Humans are not born with mature eggs.... That would mean a 2 month old would have periods and could get pregnant. Eggs are mature and release when estrogen and progesterone levels increase and decrease at the appropriate time in a cycle. The same with dogs.
