You can do a google search for dog mucus plug pictures and there are lots of them on the internet.
Pregnant females always have a mucus discharge before having pups. It just gets heavier when they get closer to delivery.
Can you tell if the pups have dropped? Normally the pups are carried higher up and a day or so before deliver the pups will drop. It is usually noticeable because the dams body shape will change.
